He really enjoys the fact that his employer is investing in diversity, equality and inclusion and wants the employees to stay for a long time.
I’ve been working with many companies before Kanthal. I started here just about six months ago, but I can already tell that Kanthal is a very inclusive company. At my previous workplaces, the strategy was always top down from the CEO. Here the management team is very much involved in the strategy creation. That’s the main important concept of inclusion because you can bounce different ideas from different backgrounds, different cultures and gender. A company has more potential to be successful if the strategy is a consequence of diversity and inclusion, it will be stronger and more solid. A lot of companies are talking about diversity and inclusion, but here we’re actually walking the talk.
I really appreciate the fact that the company is investing a lot in training about unconscious biases. Now you can assure that all the thoughts and ideas from the team are raised and shared without any fear of judgement and assumptions based on previous experiences. We are a company that is not only about results in numbers, but we are also about creating the right working environment.
One of the things I like about working at Kanthal is the flexibility which is closely connected to the company’s respect for work life balance; the possibility to work remotely. For example, in my case my wife works from home most of the times, but goes to New York City every other week for a day. Which means I can work from home and make sure the kids don’t miss the school bus. I believe there are reasons why you are really staying in one company, especially at a moment in life where it’s not only about the career, but when family is very important.
Another benefit that shows how Kanthal cares for its employees is the complementary retirement insurance, called 401K. When I received the offer, that was one point that I really appreciated. I’ve never been offered such a competitive contribution anywhere before – it’s a very, very attractive benefit. It shows that this is a company that is not just thinking of the present, it also wants to build and retain people for a long time.
I’ve been with Kanthal for about six months. How long am I staying here? Honestly, I would like to retire with Kanthal.
