How to weld a metallic heating element

Categories: How-to , Resistance materials , Heating materials , Heating elements

Welding is an excellent way to increase efficiency, improve forming and strengthen your heating elements. But there is lots to consider for element welding; from which material to use for terminals, to how to weld terminals onto the metallic elements.

In this video, our welding expert Christer and material expert Torbjörn will show you how to weld Kanthal® AF strip and wire elements together using a TIG weld and argon as protection gas, as well as how to attach the terminals to ensure solid structural integrity.

Key take-aways:

  • Welding ensures improved efficiency, forming and strengthens heating elements.
  • Creating a larger diameter to the terminals by adding layers of strip increases strength and reduces heat.
  • Always use the same material for the terminal and element.
