Earlier dental furnaces used large diameter (Ø54mm) SiC muffles to surround the materials being fired, typically alloys for moulding into precious metal fillings.
More recently, compact laboratory dental furnace designs include basic chamber type with smaller diameter elements (Ø16 & Ø19mm) above and to the side of the charge.
